Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008 is just 25 minutes away via the Mersey Tunnel.  Alternatively park at Birkenhead and enjoy the world famous 'Ferry Across The Mersey' landing at the historic Pierhead, home of the 'Three Graces' for a walk to Albert Dock.  Beatles fans from the world over won't want to miss a visit to the Beatles Museum.  In fact Liverpool has so much to offer you will need more than one day to explore.  The return journey along the Wirral is an opportunity to visit Lord Leverhulme's garden village of Port Sunlight or the Wirral Country Park.

The beautiful Cheshire countryside starts on the doorstep.  For an exciting outdoor experience try the High Ropes Course at nearby Delamere Forest.  Explore the nearby country towns and villages, The Ice Cream Farm, The Candle Workshop and a wealth of Cheshire's best country pubs serving fantastic home-made food and real ales.  Oulton Park Racing Circuit is about 20 minutes away.  Many of Cheshire's small towns including, Frodsham, Northwich and Crewe have excellent markets where local produce is freshly available alongside an immense variety of retail goods at bargain prices.  Cheshire has a wealth of attractions on offer with plenty of scope for family days out.

If you are drawn to the sea and mountains take the A55 from Vicars Cross into North Wales.  In a little over an hour you can explore the Snowdonia National Park, climb mountains and marvel at magnificent waterfalls.  The surrounding North Wales Coastline has unspoilt beaches for you to enjoy and an array of spectacular castles built to defend the coastline in times past.  Visit the narrow cobbled streets of Conwy or the grand victorian splendour of Llandudno.
